Spray Painting Furniture & Hardware {how to}

As I was perusing KSL Classifieds yesterday I came across this:

For $17!!!
You know I had to have it right?!?
Even with the missing drawer pull...

So I picked it up {10 minutes from my house} and brought it home.
Boo~Bear was due home late last night and I didn't want him to see how ugly this was
{it was a little more beat up than I had hoped}
so I got to work...IMMEDIATELY!

Rather than painting with a brush like I did with my dressers...
I took Mandi's advice and tried the spray paint method!

First I had to wipe off all the grossness...and let me just say...
GROSS!!!
then I pulled out the primer...

which didn't hurt the pocket book at all 'cuz' I had some leftover primer from another project!

I enrolled the help of Twelve Gauge...

Should I worry that he spray painted with immense enthusiasm?!?

And then went to town with my 6 cans of Krylon black!

End result...

Oh ya...forgot to mention that the lost drawer pull was hiding in the drawer {SCORE}!

What do y'all think?
Worth $17 + some paint?

  10. WOW! That turned out insanely awesome. You are might better at the whole spray painting thing than I am! I did our kitchen table a few months ago, and while it looks much better than it did before, I would hardly call it a "good" paint job. Hehe. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Oh, this is gorgeous! My color blindness is hindering me here: is it black or dark brown? And what color are the pulls?
    Since I have you here, have you ever attempted to cover the inside of drawers with fabric? I have an equally beat up dresser that I'm hoping to convert to a china hutch and I want to cover the drawers with fabric...anyway, I shouldn't ramble...the desk looks amazing!

    You know I love this. That's why you did it. You got the desk and thought, " What would Lesley do? ". Yes?

  16. Very nice Jessica! Turned out great! I have to say, the scary thing is I have a desk JUST like that in my basement! It looks like your desk when you first bought it though! ha! Maybe I should get me some paint too! My hubby probably won't let me paint it tho....it was his grandpa's desk and he's funny about stuff like that.....but I told him, a lot of good it's doing in our basement?! Maybe he'll come around.....but again, nice job!
